South Asian Tsunami ![]() The Maiwa Foundation does not have the resources to provide immediate humanitarian-aid to disaster victims. Rather we are best positioned to rebuild craft networks and livelihoods once larger organizations have met the immediate need for such basics as food, clean water, shelter, and medicines. Some of the artisans we work with have been directly affected by the disaster, especially those located in costal areas of india. The Maiwa Foundation left for India in January 2005 to survey the situation and work to rebuild and replace the equipment, networks and markets that are so vital to artisan lives. The Maiwa Foundation welcomes donations toward these artisans or any of the artisans we assist.
