Gutta is a French solvent based resist which is usually ready to use from the bottle. It is strong resist and leaves a soft hand to the fabric. It is available in clear, gold, silver, and black. The gold and silver are exquisite, and the black gives a bold contrasting look. Clear Gutta is removed by drycleaning, while the gold, silver, and black remains in the fabric. The metallic effect of the latter will be removed if drycleaned. Gutta is quick drying, but should always be used in well ventilated conditions. It is best applied from squeeze bottles for fine lines or painted on for thicker strokes. If gutta becomes thick, it may be thinned with minute amounts of Rubber Cement Thinner (available in any hardware store).
