Gees Bend Stamps Released by the United States Post Office

The Quilters of Gees Bend who appeared in Vancouver as part of our 2005 Textile Symposium, are the subject of a special commemorative issue of US postage.

"This is such an honor," said Mary Lee Bendolph, a Gee's Bend quilter whose "Housetop" quilt is featured on one of the stamps. "I just have to give praise to the Lord. We all are blessed to have our quilts on a postage stamp. We never had any idea this would happen to us. We are all so honored."

For additional information or to purchase stamps visit the United States Postal Service website.
