Bedding is an opportunity for indulgence. Sumptuous colours, intricate patterns, a palette with history and soul. An invitation to lounge, relax, meditate or drift ... perhaps our bedding and linens will influence your dreams.
Nowhere do the artisans shine quite so brightly as when they are working the large formats of sheets, bedspreads, quilts, and covers. Are you looking for something that might have adorned a Pasha’s chamber? Our collections feature cotton coloured with natural dyes, blockprinted in the ajrakh and dabu traditions. Are you looking for the vitality of quilts that might guard against a cold desert night? Appliqué, stitching and embroidery bring alive tribal motifs in a cultural patchwork.
Our collaborations have produced some impressive pieces that you will not find anywhere else in the world: ikats specially dyed and woven for Maiwa; double colour weaves incorporating golden jacquard borders.
Maiwa works directly with village artisans to ensure that traditional techniques and processes remain alive for future generations. It may be only a simple sheet, but for us it means the livelihood for many communities of artisans – natural dye farmers, block carvers, blockprinters, dyers, weavers, spinners, and tailors. Colours are obtained from natural dyes. Indigo, madder, cutch, marigold are just some of the plants that are used to dye our linens, silks, cottons and wools.
