Tilaka pot

The featured piece this week is a tika container. These containers were traditionally used to hold tika powder. In Hinduism, the tika, tilaka or tilak is a mark worn on the forehead and sometimes the centre of the upper head. Tilaka may be worn on a daily basis or for special religious occasions. The containers are painted wood and stand between four and six inches high. The texture of the patina is particularly interesting and gives each piece a distinctive feeling.

Each piece of furniture at Maiwa East is unique. All have personality. The featured piece of the week is an example of the variety that we carry. Containers arrive on a regular basis so check back often to find the one that is right for you or your special space.
