Devoré
Devoré (also know as burnout) is a technique used to create semi-transparent patterning on fabric. Used particularly on velvets, this process only works on fabrics that are mix of fibre types. The cellulose fibres are burned away where the devoré paste is applied, leaving the other fibres (protein or synthetic) untouched.
Sensuous cloth reminiscent of antique velvet, lace and cut work can be obtained, along with dynamic contemporary creations.
